In the Kumamoto dialect, "sumu" means "to dive into water."
We hope you will feel the tranquility of floating at the bottom of the water.
The front counter is designed to resemble a flowing waterfall, evoking Kumamoto, the land of water.
The interior features Kumamoto's traditional crafts, such as bamboo work and Higo inlay, on the pillars and walls. The delicate and glittering design will transport visitors to an extraordinary world.
The back of the valley-inspired bench is modeled after the walls of Kumamoto Castle. Combined with the lighting that looks like sunlight filtering through the trees from the ceiling, the lobby evokes the nature and history of Kumamoto.

All 197 guest rooms are decorated with art prints by YUH TAKUNO, an artist and active painter. The triptych, which features "Kikuchi Valley," "Daikanbo," and "Takadake," one of the five peaks of Aso, was inspired by the grandeur of Kumamoto's nature that the artist experienced while volunteering in the aftermath of the Kumamoto earthquake. Please enjoy the prints in your room.
